A little bit about me:

Alexis Wilbert, Psy.D.

Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Although therapy will be about you, maybe you want to know a little about my background before we dive in. I am originally from Maine. I attended Colby College for my undergraduate degree in psychology. There, I ran track and became interested in learning more about eating disorders due to the prevalence of these types of concerns in friend groups, and on my team. I did my senior thesis on eating disorders in collegiate athletes. Post-college and through pursuing my doctoral degree, I worked at Colorado Children’s Hospital (ED unit), EDCare-Denver, La Luna Center, and a community mental health clinic. I did my APA accredited internship at the University of Denver seeing students and staff. I received my Psy.D. in 2013. Since that time I have worked at Colorado College’s counseling center and been in private practice. I returned to Maine in 2019 with my family and have maintained a telehealth private practice since that time.

I believe you are enough, and I’ll help you believe it too.

So, you are wondering if I am a good fit for you! My experience is working in eating disorder treatment facilities, community mental health, and college counseling centers. I have worked with clients with a diverse array of presenting concerns, but of course, my niche is eating disorder work, and individuals who struggle with perfectionism and body image concerns. This work is incredibly fulfilling to me, because clients with eating issues and body image concerns tend to be incredibly resilient, intelligent, and motivated people. They are also sensitive to the world around them, and tend to take in a LOT of information. When we harness that for good, they are unstoppable.

I like to work with clients who are ready to make a change. It may not be 100% ready, (hey, some days it may even be only 25% ready) and it may vary from day to day, but something in them tells them it is time to seek support. We address everything: anxiety, depressive symptoms, family concerns, relationship issues, trauma history, perfectionistic tendencies, feelings of inadequacy, functions of behaviors, and systemic challenges. I meet my clients where they are in the moment. We work together as a team to make their life fulfilling and rewarding. It is valuable work.

Therapy is an investment. It is an investment in yourself and living your best life. Yes, YOU are worth it! Call or email me today to start working together towards your path to wellness.
